Know Animal Testing

Animal testing in the world of cosmetics is an unnecessary act that has been enforced for many decades. Avon, Mary Kay, and Estée Lauder have been companies that promoted against animal testing since the 1980s and recently, due to the export of their products to China, have decided to reinstate animal testing. Tell these companies that animal testing in the cosmetic field is no longer needed and give them no support by choosing to buy products from companies who do not test on animals. No more Draize Eye Irritancy, Skin Irritancy or Lethal Dose testing on animals!

Hello Everyone,

I started a petition on Change.org about the Stanford residency program in laboratory animal medicine asking them to give the opportunity for the students to use a non-animal testing program instead due to the harmful and torturous nature brought by animal testing. Alternatives to animal testing are an easier and more effective approach to conducting research and tests needed for cosmetics, household products and sometimes even medicine. All that I ask is that they give a training program that uses alternatives to animal testing that will allow for future scientists to develop a well rounded education of the future. If you agree with me please sign the petition and pass this along to whomever you find would be interested. Thank you!

The images from this Norwegian fur farm are HEARTBREAKING. These poor animals have to live their whole lives in the most vile of conditions before they are slaughtered and too often, skinned alive.

INTERMIX has to kill (typically by way of anal electrocution) up to 15 arctic foxes for ONE of their fur vests…

Please take a moment to tweet at @INTERMIX, leave them a facebook comment, sign our petition, and especially join our Fur Free Photo Campaign to let INTERMIX know you will NOT be shopping with them until they stop selling fur.

We need your help to fight this. Every voice counts. Stand up for the animals and SAY NO TO FUR!

Happy Turkey Day for humans, but not so much for the turkey.

According to EatTurkey.com

Holiday Turkey
In 2010, more than 244 million turkeys were raised. More than 226 million were consumed in the United States. We estimate that 46 million of those turkeys were eaten at Thanksgiving, 22 million at Christmas and 19 million at Easter.

A holiday tradition causes many Turkeys to be cruelty and brutally killed. These photos are not the only cruel action being done to them. They are beaten and stuffed into small spaces where they see their friends killed in front of them.

Choose a better answer by either having a meat free Thanksgiving or just know where your meat comes from. You don’t need to be a vegetarian, although cutting back on your meat consumption is good for your health, but just be educated on where your meat comes from and choose well.

“The FD&C Act does not specifically require the use of animals in testing cosmetics for safety, nor does the Act subject cosmetics to FDA premarket approval. However, the agency has consistently advised cosmetic manufacturers to employ whatever testing is appropriate and effective for substantiating the safety of their products. It remains the responsibility of the manufacturer to substantiate the safety of both ingredients and finished cosmetic products prior to marketing.”

Then Why Do They Test on Animals?

Finding a company that does not test on animals is become easier and easier these days. One such company that I frequently notice is Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day. Their products not only are not tested on animals, they do not contain animal products or harmful chemicals. The strong smell of florals and herbs will remain with you throughout the day. Take a step towards having better cosmetic and household products by buying non-animal tested ones.

Denmark is a big shame.

The sea is stained in red and it is not because of the climate effects of nature. It’s because of the cruelty of the human beings (civilized human) who kill hundreds of the famous and intelligent Calderon dolphins.

This happens every year in Feroe Island in Denmark . In this slaughter the main participants are young teens.

WHY?
A celebration, to show that they are adults and mature!

Is it necessary to mention that the dolphin Calderon, like all the other species of dolphins, it’s near extinction and they get near men to play and interact.
In a way of PURE friendship.

They don’t die instantly; they are cut 1, 2 or 3 times with thick hooks. And at that time the dolphins produce a grim cry like that of a new born child.

But he suffers and there’s no compassion while this magnificent creature slowly dies in its own blood

Its enough!

We will publish until this post goes around the world that many more people will know about this shameful Dannish acts.

Whether you eat meat or you don’t, you buy products that do not test on animals or you don’t, you go to circuses that use animals or you don’t, you wear wool/fur or you don’t, you should check out what the issues are that are caused by these topics. Peta’s website has a great overview for you on all topics of Animal testing, Animals for food, Animals for clothing, Animals as pets, Animals used as entertainment or basic Animals in the wild. Learn and Love.

Step By Step

Buying a product that suits your needs depends on the appeal that is drawn to you. When most appeals are due to fragrance and design, they should be due to the environmental causes and awareness. This could be the ingredients that are listed in products or the type of packaging used; can it be recycled or reused..etc. Although, one of these appeals that is mostly overlooked is do they test on animals. Being human we sometimes forget that we are not alone on this planet because we are so easily removed from animals in our daily lives, other than our pets. Yet, most animals tested on are even considered our pets. Rabbits, cats, dogs, mice, rats and monkeys. The ladder being the least memorable seen in our homes. Once it is decided that humans are in fact not doing much to help themselves out as far as the environment goes, there becomes a step by step list of changes that need to occur. This is what I propose. A step by step process of how to choose products that do not test on animals.

Step one: Do your research. Know what sort of testing we are dealing with. If the reading makes you feel uncomfortable, good. It should. If you don’t feel much at all, you may not feel an emotion connection, which can cause problems in many areas .

Step two: Figure out what products you buy and which already do not test on animals. Most products which do not test on animals will place a statement on their bottles that say some form of “Do not Test on animals”, “Cruelty free” and my favorite “Human tested”. Be aware though that some of these companies would prefer you to believe they do not test on animals when in fact they do. For instance, if the bottle states “This product is not tested on animals” or “End product not tested on animals” this means that the formula used on the product was in fact tested on animals or perhaps that other products the company makes tests on them.

Step three: Decide whether or not you can afford a change. This step is more of a step over, for it shouldn’t be a concern to whether or not your wallet can afford a cruelty free life. When I say “afford” I’m referring to the cost not the ritual change. Most people have their products they can’t live without, but what they don’t know is that even if these products, that have been with them for awhile, give them tradition they may not be healthy for them. Check out the ingredients listed and let the research tell you. This isn’t to say all non-animal testing companies have the best ingredients, but they tend to be more health conscious. The change in cost doesn’t have to be an issue because their are plenty of websites that help you find products that do not test on animals that are sold in your local corner store.

Step four: Go buy your products and feel happy about saving lives. Once you find products that you like and do not test on animals stick with them. Supporting companies who’s end goal is to help others, such as animals, creates a better mindset for yourself. It feels good to be good.
